But the desert also changes a lot through the day – the light, the heat, and the colours are completely different at sunrise, midday, and sunset. Knowing when and where to shoot makes a big difference to your photos.

The best time is golden hour – the first hour after sunrise or the last hour before sunset. At this time the light is soft and warm, the sand turns a rich golden colour, and there are no harsh shadows on your face. The temperature is also much more comfortable, which matters a lot from spring to autumn. We book every session around golden hour for your chosen date, so you always get the most flattering light. Midday shoots are not recommended because the light is hard and the heat is high.

Our main location is the Al Qudra and Bab Al Shams desert area, which has clean, rolling dunes and is easy to reach from Dubai. Depending on your session and the look you want, we may also shoot in the Lahbab (Big Red) area for taller, redder dunes. We choose the exact spot based on the light on the day, your group size, and the style you are going for. You do not need to know the desert yourself – we plan the location and the safe route for you.

Long dresses, light scarves, and solid colours like red, emerald, royal blue, white, and warm neutral tones all stand out against the sand. Avoid small busy patterns. For shoes, bring something easy to slip off, as barefoot shots in the sand often look the best. If you want, you can add our flying dress to the session for a dramatic look, or bring your own outfits. Families often look great in matching tones rather than identical outfits.

You do not need any experience in front of the camera. Ahmed directs you the whole time - where to stand, how to move, and what to do with your hands. It feels natural, not stiff.
Bring water and a small mirror
The desert is dry, so bring water. A small mirror and a brush help for quick touch-ups between shots, especially if you add the makeup artist.
Arrive on time for the light
Golden hour is short. Arriving on time means we use the best light fully. We send you the exact meeting time and location pin before the shoot.
